Good question! Steelhead are native rainbow trout, which migrate from rivers and streams to the ocean as juvenile fish and return to fresh water as adults to spawn. Depending on how long they spend in the ocean (from one to four years), they can return to their freshwater homes at between four and twenty pounds (twenty being a whopper). Steelhead, when cooked, tastes reminiscent of salmon, but is milder, sweeter, and more delicate. It is an excellent cooked in almost any style, and makes some of the best fish tacos you will ever taste. Steelhead are an iconic fish of the Pacific Northwest, where Steelhead Print is based.
